Free check terms

What you agree to when you sign up for a free check.

In short: the check is free, there's no obligation to claim, and you only pay a fee if you later choose to claim and HMRC pays a refund.

These terms apply when you sign up for a free check with Reclaim My PPI Tax Ltd, trading as MLD Tax Group ("we", "us"). By submitting the sign-up form you agree to them.

1. What the free check is

We check your HMRC record to see whether you can claim tax relief on flat-rate work expenses. These cover uniforms, work clothing and tools. We check the current tax year and the four before it.

2. Who can sign up

  • You must be 18 or over.
  • You must give your full, valid National Insurance number. We can't accept temporary numbers that start with TN.
  • The details you give must be your own, and they must be true and complete.

3. Your authority for us to contact HMRC

You authorise us to ask HMRC for access to your record as your tax agent. We use this access only to carry out your check. HMRC may contact you to confirm the request.

4. What we will do

  • We send the request to HMRC on the same working day you sign up.
  • If the request expires or is declined, we send it once more.
  • If the second request doesn't go through, a member of our staff will contact you.
  • Once we have access, we check your record and send you your results on a private link. The link expires after 90 days.

5. Cost and obligation

The check is free. You don't have to go ahead with a claim after it. You only pay a fee if you later choose to claim and HMRC pays a refund. Those terms are separate and we'll show them to you before you sign anything. You can read them now in our claim terms.

6. If you're not eligible

If our check shows you can't claim, we'll tell you. We won't charge you and we won't take things any further.

7. What we can't promise

Your results are based on what HMRC holds and what you tell us. They are not a guarantee of a refund, an amount or a timescale. HMRC makes the final decision.

8. Changing your mind

You can ask us to stop your check at any time. Email info@reclaimmyppitax.co.uk and we'll withdraw our request to HMRC.

9. Your information

We use your information as set out in our privacy notice. We'll only send you marketing if you tick the marketing box.

10. Complaints and law

If you're unhappy, email us at info@reclaimmyppitax.co.uk and we'll look into it promptly. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
